Catskill Trail Map Good, Easy Hiking Trail In The Catskill Mountains?

Good, easy hiking trail in the Catskill Mountains? - catskill trail map

My girlfriend and I will Catskill, New York this week for walking. It is a beginner. Can anyone recommend a test that can be used on sneakers? Maybe something with a good salary, "at the end (a nice view or others)?

Thanks in advance!

  1. I would not recommend hiking in the mountains this time of year without proper winter gear (snowshoes, crampons, boots, winter clothing, etc.). Though the weather is warm this week, don't expect the high elevations to be clear of snow and ice. The trailheads will likely be muddy from snowmelt as well.

A short, easy hike might be around North-South Lake in Haines Falls, off Route 23A within the town of Hunter. There are trail connections to Kaaterskill Falls if you're up for it, but be careful. We've already had one fatality there this winter (they fell from the top of the falls). Here is more info on North-South Lake: www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/24487.htm.

Have fun and be safe! (I found this via Google Alerts, btw)
