Why is brown paper used to line the pan for a fruit cake? - brown

I have a recipe for stollen, which I use brown paper to line pan forces. Can I use wax paper instead of brown paper? That is the goal of wrapping paper?

  1. A few reasons:
    1. Retains moisture, so that even the parties.
    2. In order to facilitate easy removal from the pan. Fruit cake is a real B # $ @ h to leave the pan in one piece.

  2. My guess is to absorb excess oil seeps out of the cake after baking. Wax paper will do.
